April 21: Atlantic Ballet presents Carmen

  • Apr 18, 2026

Here is an English translation of the text:

“A intimate ballet where mystery meets power.” – Sylvie Mousseau, L’Acadie nouvelle
A memorable production that brings together highly talented male and female dancers, impressive staging, striking sets and lighting, as well as three percussionists on stage.

Igor Dobrovolskiy, the artistic director of the Atlantic Ballet of Canada, offers a contemporary adaptation of the famous Gypsy story in the ballet Carmen.

Don José falls in love with Carmen and sacrifices everything to be with her. When Carmen takes a fancy to the bullfighter Escamillo, she loses interest in Don José, and his love turns into violent jealousy. Passion, plot twists, love and tragedy—the story of Carmen brings them together in a way that keeps us on the edge of our seats, our hearts ready to falter at any moment.
