Veronica Eileen (Matchett) Mutch, wife of the late Karl Mutch, of Gray Rapids, NB, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 77, with her daughter in law, Betty by her side.

Born on Indian Garden Road, Red Bank, NB, she was the daughter of the late George and Carmel (Robichaud) Matchett.

Eileen worked at Evelyn’s Beauty Salon for many years, then she was a caregiver for many years after. She was a homemaker and was known for her cooking. She cooked for countless parties and enjoyed every minute of it. Eileen was a very generous person and took great pleasure in giving people gifts and/or doing things for others. Eileen spent her last days watching her favourite cooking and home renovation shows at home, in her Granny suite.

She said she was never so contented and happy in her life, as she was living in her Granny Suite in Gray Rapids. She said that her best memories were her shopping trips with Betty, especially when they travelled to the U.S.

Eileen is survived by daughter: Carla Murphy of Chatham, NB; son: Joey Mutch (Betty) of Gray Rapids, NB; grandchildren: Jared, Holly and BJ; great grandchildren: Lincoln, Kenton and Kaden; step grandson: Jonathan Nowlan (Sammiejoe); step great grandchildren: Xavier and Aurora Nowlan; sisters: Fern, Heather, Linda, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Kathleen; brothers: Dan, John, Doug; sisters-in-law: Demmng O’Reilly (David), Noileta Mutch; brothers-in-law: Raymond (Eloise), Brian (Simone), Shirley (Sonny); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she is predeceased by brother: Andrew; parents-in-law: Weldon and Carmel Mutch; brother-in-law: Weldon (Sonny) Mutch.

As per Eileen wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at Lyttleton Baptist Cemetery later in the spring.
