The death of Shelby Saleen Paul fiancé of Braeden Martin of Esgenoôpetitj, NB, occurred on Monday, September 15, 2025, at her late residence at the age of 21. Born in Miramichi, NB, she was the daughter of John Paul and Audrey Dedam of Esgenoôpetitj, NB. Shelby was a university student who had hoped to become a teacher someday. She also worked with the Esgenoôpetitj Youth Activity Planner-Sports Canada. She enjoyed reading, the beach, CaliCo, playing volleyball, squishmallows, crocs, dill pickles just to name a few.

Besides her parents and fiancé, Shelby is survived by her siblings: Zoe & Selita Paul, Ashley Dempsey, Rheanna Darcy and John Lance Paul; maternal grandmother: Theresa Augustine; aunties: Mary Lena Sylliboy and Starr Fournier; uncles: Dwayne Augustine, Ronald Augustine, Sean McDermott, Stephen John Sylliboy (Taylor), she is also survived by Braeden’s family: Debbie Williamson, Michael Martin (Janine), Michaela Martin and Becca Brideau. She also leaves to mourn great aunts, great uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends who loved her.

Shelby is predeceased by her: paternal grandparents: John Paul & Carol Dedam, maternal grandfather: Richard Terrance Augustine and uncle: Robert (Bobby) Syllliboy.

The family will receive visitors at the home of her parents, 134 Algonquin Road, Esgenoôpetitj, NB on Sunday, September 21, 2025, after 5 PM and again on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 2 PM.
