Mary Louise Young

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Louise (Harris) Young wife of the late Percy Young of Losier Hall, Miramichi and formerly of Sunny Corner, NB, on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Miramichi Hospital at the age of 99. Born on December 25, 1925, in Boom Road, NB, she was the daughter of the late Willa (Harris) Mutch. Mary retired from the Newcastle Treatment Center after 25 years of service, Mary was very active in her community. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 90 Ladies Auxiliary, Sunny Corner. Mary enjoyed playing cards, darts, softball and bowling and was very competitive, winning lots of trophies. In her early years she enjoyed camping at McGraw Brook with our dad.

Mary will be greatly missed by her children: Sandra Somers (Vincent) of Derby, NB; Paul (Irene) of Matthew Settlement, NB; Peggy Savoy (late Donnie) of Miramichi, NB; Susan Allison (Stephen) of Cassilis, NB; daughter-in-law: Mina Young (late Bobby) as well as her grandchildren: Sonya, Jason, Victor, Vaden, Meaghan, Breann, Jared, Cole, Whitney, Kristopher and Devin; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and her very best friend Dorothea Nowlan.

Besides her mother and husband, Mary is predeceased by her children: Alta (1967), Bobby (2023); son-in-law: Donnie Savoy and sister Edith Allison.

The family will receive visitors at Jardine Funeral Home, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 5-8 PM. The Funeral service will be held at Jardine Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 1PM with Rev. Darel Tozer officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Cemetery, Boom Road, NB later in the spring.
