Chatham house fire claims life of youth

On Thursday September 22nd at approximately 1:00 AM the Miramichi Fire Department, assisting fire agencies and the Miramichi Police Force responded to a residential structure fire at a residence in the southeast end of the city.

Once the fire was brought under control emergency services entered the home and located one youth who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is being jointly investigated by the Provincial Fire Marshal’s Office, the Miramichi Fire Department and the Miramichi Police Force.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time to allow for family notifications.
