From March 28th to April 28th 2013, the Galerie Artcadienne located at the Carrefour Beausoleil in Miramichi, present the installation Carrés de Jeu from the artist Raymonde Fortin.
From Gaspésia, Raymonde Fortin lives and works in the Moncton area in New Brunswick since 1985.
In the beginning, painting and drawing were at the center of her interests.
During her university studies, the sculpture comes to live quietly in her practice. Since 2011, her career is punctuated by exhibition facilities, as it focuses more and more, along with her plastic research.
She works without specific thematic leaving topic and reflection install themselves through gesture and composition.
Her inspiration finds its source in both the real and the imaginary, from spontaneity and reason, experience and dreams.
“Because I'm an artist who likes to touch the world of painting, drawing and sculpture, various avenues naturally coalesce in my practice.
The work develops through a painter’s approach, but will be deliver with the intention of a sculptor. I think the work is permeated from the artist’s daily and shines in a dimension that belongs to the imaginary. Hence the importance of place, people, activities around the workshop and fuel source.
Everything becomes material to observe, dissect, to explore, to compress in order to extract the essential.
This quest leads me to seek simplicity, transparency and light in the realization of my work while keeping the freedom movement and exploration of textures”.
An artist residency at the Centre des Arts et de la Culture in Dieppe, two collaborations with experimental theater Moncton Sable and two residences school enrich her artistic experiences. Alongside her career, she has been actively involved in the arts and education. For several years, fifty adults have benefited from her exploration workshops in abstract painting. She has also taught sculpture at the Department of Visual Arts at the Université de Moncton
Her studio is located in the Aberdeen Cultural Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick.
