The death of Douglas “Doug” Thomas Gallant of Doyle’s Brook, NB, occurred on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Percy’s Place at the age of 86. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Wilfred “Bill” and Gladys (McKinley) Gallant. Doug retired from Repap where he worked as a labourer, and he was recognized with a Lifetime Membership for his outstanding contributions to the development of the Communication Energy & Paperworkers Union of Canada. He was also a former member of the Orange Lodge.

Doug is survived by his children: Mervin Gallant (Debbie) of St. Albert, AB; Rod Gallant (Heather) of Stewiacke, NS; Roy Gallant (Leone) of Meaghers Grant, NS; Roxane Hallihan (Rodney) of Cains River, NB; Nancy Gallant of Middle Sackville, NS; stepchildren: Dean Sherrard (Gina) of Brampton, ON; Darren Sherrard (Sherry) of Exmoor, NB; Brenda Kelly (Perry) of South Nelson, NB; grandchildren: Elisabeth Dalcin (Jesse), Constance Gallant, Alyssa Gallant, Hayley Gallant (Sean), Ryley Hallihan (Sabrina), K.C. Hallihan, Miranda Cartwright (Kyle), Kaitlin Le (Hoang), Heidi Dougan (Charles), Ethan Kelly, Emily Kelly; great grandchildren: Pacey, Milo, Kristen, William, Ronin, Mako and Harlynn; sisters: Laurine Hambrook (Jimmy); Diane Mountain (Alvin), sister-in-law: Hazel Gallant (late Wilfred) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his first wife: Shirley (Mullin) Gallant, his second wife: Mary (Timmons) Gallant; sister: Sylvia Gallan (late Austin); brother: Wilfred Gallant.

The family will receive visitors at Jardine Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 10:30-12 PM followed by the funeral service at 12 PM with Rev. Geza Szemok officiating. Burial will follow in the Cochraneville Cemetery, Doyles Brook, NB.
