2024 Striper Cup Launch

Hundreds gather to watch start of annual fishing tournament

Hundreds of people congregated at the Morrissey Bridge in Chatham Head to get a good look at the launch of the 2024 Miramichi Striper Cup, an annual Striped Bass fishing tournament.

250 teams compete in the two day event and the event, and fishing in general, generates over a $1 million in economic spin-offs in the city. The launch is coordinated in a way that is most safe for the fishermen. The largest most powerful boats launch first, and after the wakes are settled, the smaller boats launch.
