Stella Marie (Cabel) Gilliss of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at Mount St. Joseph on August 30, 2025, at the age of 93.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick on August 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Smith) Cabel. She was a housewife and attended Carmel United Church when she was able.

Stella is survived by three daughters: Brenda MacIntosh (Jim) and Sharon Savoy (late David) all of Miramichi, New Brunswick and Valerie Brennan (Blair) of Black River Bridge, New Brunswick; five grandchildren: Nicole, Stacey, Amy, Elizabeth and Darren; four great-grandchildren: Savana, Becky, Clair and Maxime; two sisters: Grace Cook (late Joe) of Elliott Lake, Alberta and Beryl MacKnight (Raymond) of Napan, New Brunswick; one brother, Don Cabel (June) of Napan, New Brunswick; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Andrew Gilliss, two sisters: Jean MacKnight and Gladys Hackett; three brothers: Kenneth (Bud), Vince and Billy Cabel.

At the request of the family there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Miramichi, New Brunswick on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11 AM with The Reverend Keith Carter officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
