Peter Oswald Downey passed away June 10th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Miramichi Regional Hospital. 

Peter was Born Oct 29th, 1950, in Woodstock NB and was the son of the late John and Myra (Delong) Downey.

Anyone who knew Peter had a funny story to tell. He was proud of his 30 year long career with DNR. When he retired, he was supervisor of his region. He loved everything about his job and the people he worked with. Peter was as also the owner and operator of Southwest Miramichi Ambulance for over 10 years. He also spent many years with the Blackville Fire Department and on the village council. Outside of work, he loved hunting, fishing a good steak and watching the river. 

Peter was predeceased by his brother Raymond Downey, his sisters Fern Johnston, Wilma Rideout, Thelma Carter and half brothers Ralph and Ken Downey. 

Peter will be greatly missed by his loving wife Connie Downey, his 3 kids Marcy Downey, Matthew Downey (Jill) and Mark Downey (Amanda) his 4 grandchildren Jace, Ellie, Jemma and Jude and his siblings Diane Foster, John Downey and Geraldine Swim.
