It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marilyn Madonna Baker of Miramichi, New Brunswick, formerly of Labrador City NL and Hodge’s Cove, NL. She passed away peacefully at Percy’s Place on August 17, 2025, surrounded by family and dear friends at the age of 70.
Born in Hodge’s Cove, Newfoundland, on October 4, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Caleb and Myrtle (Peddle) Churchill. In her early years Marilyn owned her own successful business along with her husband Glen, making ceramics. She also worked at different convenience stores for many years where she worked closely with some of whom would become life long good friends. She built a life rich in connection and friendship. She was blessed with a circle of remarkable friends who stood by her side through every chapter of her life and were with her in her final days, ensuring she was surrounded by love and laughter until the very end. Marilyn had a way of making friends with some amazing people both in Labrador and New Brunswick.
Marilyn leaves behind three dearly loved children: her two daughters, Angela Baker of Ontario, Tammy Pike (Christopher Pike) of Labrador; and her son, Rodney Baker (Melissa Maddox) of Labrador; five grandchildren: AJ Squires, Thomas Squires, Isaac Baker, Sarah Baker and Alexander Pike; two sisters: Lorraine Drover, Minnie Drover (Fred) all of Hodge’s Cove, Newfoundland; three brothers: Levi Churchill (Myra), Robert Churchill (Debbie) and Clyde Churchill (Marilyn) all of Clarenville, Newfoundland; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and husband, H. Glen Baker, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and enduring partnership.
Marilyn will be remembered for her love of family, friends, her wit, her humor, and her compassion of all people.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Percy’s Place, 1284 Water St., Miramichi on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with The Reverend Ross Wiseman officiating. Interment will be held in Hodge’s Cove, Newfoundland.

The incredible work and care by the people in Percy’s Place will forever be remembered. They are all truly amazing and compassionate people. We can not express how thankful we are to everyone there.
