Lois Maxine MacDonald (1939-2024)
It is with immense sadness that the family of Lois Maxine (Tozer) MacDonald announces her passing at Percy’s Place in Miramichi on August 1, 2024. Lois was born in Sunny Corner, NB on July 11, 1939 to the late Edward and Edna (Mullin) Tozer.
Lois graduated from the Miramichi School of Nursing in 1960 and shortly after joined her brother in Elliot Lake to pursue her career. In 1963, she traveled with a nursing friend to Boston where she began work immediately. It was here that she met her husband, Donald MacDonald (originally from Cape Breton). They were married for 54 years until Donnie’s passing in 2019.
Lois was a very dedicated and hardworking nurse throughout a career that spanned almost five decades. She always strived for excellence, obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing in 1986 from Boston University and her Masters in 1995 (while battling cancer) from Regis College. She was also private nurse to a few celebrities in her career, such as comedian Joan Rivers and golfer Jack Nicklaus.
Although Lois lived in Boston for most of her adult life, she always considered Canada, and more specifically, Miramichi her home. And so, it was not surprising that following the death of her husband, Lois made the decision to return home and settled in Parkland on the River, in Miramichi.
Lois is survived by her sisters, Joan Norton ...
