Josephine Mary Howe (King)
We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother.
Josephine, or “Jo” as she was called by many, was the mother of 5 boys: Doug (Karen) of South Nelson, Andy of Fredericton, Jeff (Eileen) of Glasgow, Scotland, Ian (Sharon) of Miramichi, and Jason (Angela) also of Miramichi.
She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Adam, Rebecca, Keelin, Drew, Jessica, Naomi, Ella, Walter, and Ivy. She was also blessed with 3 great grandchildren: Peter, Lucy, and Allen.
These next generations were a great source of pride for our mother, and she attended every event that she was able to attend in order to watch them perform at their chosen hobbies. Mom was the consummate “stay at home” mother throughout our early years. She was an amazing cook and homemaker. Our home had an “open door” policy, and all were welcome.
Her hearty meals were often cooked in pots that would rival a wheelbarrow in capacity. Her bread was homemade, and her desserts were legendary.
After her boys were grown, she became a cherished employee for a variety of small local businesses: Centennial Foods, The Style Shop, and Maurie’s Catering. She was also a PSW before there was even a term for this role. She had a real soft spot for old people and had a special relationship with many.
