With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Joan Betty Christina Harper of Glenwood, New Brunswick, who passed away at the Moncton City Hospital surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at the age of 67.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick on January 7, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Lewis) Harper. Joan devoted 45 years to Chatham Atlantic Superstore, where she built lasting friendships and retired as Deli Manager. Even after retiring 2 years ago her love for her work and the people she returned and worked a few days a week. Outside of work Joan found joy in playing Bingo, creating beautiful cross stitch and diamond art pieces and working on puzzles. She attended St. Stephen’s United Church, Black River Bridge, New Brunswick.
Joan will be greatly missed by her common-law partner of 50 years, Flavien Turbide; four sisters: Shirley Rollings of Whitby, Ontario, Agnes Harper of Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, Della Koley (Trevor) of Medicine Hat, Alberta and Beverly Hubbard (Hal) of Black River Bridge, New Brunswick; one brother, John Harper (Carolyn) of Black River Bridge, New Brunswick; four sisters-in-law: Azilda McIntyre (Antonio), Normande Manuel, Gloria Collette (André) and Flore Turbide; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law, Normand and Aurelie Turbide, brothers: William (Billy), Charles Leslie; two brothers-in-law: Wilmond and Melderic.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick on Monday, September 8th, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM from Adams Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Ivan Gregan officiating. Interment will follow at Black River Community Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Stephen’s United Church, Percy’s Place or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
