Jean Ruth Nowlan of Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home (formerly of Sunny Corner) passed away peacefully at Percy's Place, Miramichi, NB on Sunday June 9, 2024, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was a very caring and gentle soul, who always put the needs of others first. Her unwavering faith carried her through many of life's challenges. She had a fierce love for family, which was shown through her endless acts of kindness.
As a homemaker, Jean was known for her baking, sewing, knitting, gardening and quilting skills. She kept her yard immaculate and was often teased when a leaf was seen on her lawn. Not a stranger to hard work, she could turn her hand to anything and took great pride in her independence.
She was happiest surrounded by family or enjoying the outdoors. It was a natural fit when she worked as a childcare provider and later, as a cook at Little Forks Fishing Camp. She remained active and in good health well into her 90's, until dementia and a recent fall robbed her of her mobility.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Ira and Ruth (Scott) McKay, brother Wilfred McKay (late Mona), and sister Lillian Richard. She is survived by sisters Marie Sewell (late Douglas) of Fredericton and Iris Giles (late Sinclair) of Miramichi; brother-in-law: Maurice of Miramichi.
