The death of John “Jack” Matthew Gifford on Miramichi, NB, occurred on June 10, 2025, at his residence at the age of 64. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Percy and Loretta (Young) Gifford. Jack will be remembered fondly by his brother Wilmont whom he lived with the last 30 years and his four-legged friend, Luna whom he took for many walks. Jack loved his daily walks downtown for his Mill Cove coffee. Throughout the years Jack was a woodsman and a quiet man who didn’t say much but enjoyed a good laugh now and then.
Jack is survived by his sister: Betty Astle (Bruce); brothers: Wilmont (late Brenda Blackmore), Earl (Carol) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jack is predeceased by siblings: Elizabeth Sherrard, Audrey Gifford, Mary Gifford and Burt Gifford.
At Jack’s request there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place in the Maple Glen Cemetery at a later date.
