We know New Brunswickers want to better understand the pressures facing our hospitals and we are committed to being open, transparent and consistent in how we share this information.
Beginning today, Horizon is launching a new dashboard that will include data on:
• Percentage of hospital beds occupied by patients who are waiting for alternate care.
• Overall hospital occupancy
• Number of patients awaiting nursing home placement
• Number of patients who have been discharged from hospital and placed in a nursing home
By making this data public, we hope to keep patients, families, and communities informed about the realities of this evolving situation.
Our hospital teams always strive to provide exceptional care, with many going above and beyond to ensure those waiting for alternate care are treated with dignity and compassion.
But we also know that our hospitals aren’t designed to provide the kind of daily therapy and social support these individuals need, and we continue to work closely with our partners to address these challenges, while engaging in ongoing work to ensure all patients are receiving the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
