 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of David Cadogan, April 5th, 2026, in Miramichi, NB.

David Cadogan was born into the newspaper family of George and Elda (Magill) Cadogan on August 3, 1942, in Woodstock, Ontario. He started working as a printer’s devil at age 8 and went on to build a community newspaper publishing career that included owning the Woodstock Bugle, The Miramichi Leader/Weekend, the Dalhousie News, Miramichi Headwaters, the King’s County Record and the Miramichi Web printing operation, under the Cadogan Publishing Ltd. banner.

Over the course of his life he helped found and lead the Atlantic Community Newspapers Association and the Canadian Community Newspaper Association. His papers were perennially successful, winning many awards in their circulation category regionally and nationally. He was past president and an honorary life member of both CCNA and ACNA.

 He also founded a variety of other non-industry related community organizations, including a branch of Jaycees in Woodstock, N.B.

As a publisher he tackled a number of difficult, controversial issues and was an advocate for community improvement and social justice.
