On Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the age of 75, God called him home. It is with a deep sense of loss to announce the sudden passing of my beloved husband, Charles William Barter.

Born February 27, 1949 in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late James and Jenny (Shaw) Barter.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kelly Barter; his beautiful children: Kara Barter (Danny) of Miramichi, NB, Jessica Barter of Miramichi, NB, Kyle Barter (Erin) of Grande Cache, AB, Devin-Rae Barter (Darcy) of Miramichi, NB, Kayla Barter (Travis) of Grande Prairie, AB; daughter-in-law: Christina Barter of Airdrie, AB; he is predeceased by son: Charles James Barter.

Proud grandfather of 16 beautiful grandchildren; and a brother to: Catherine Barter (Rocco) of Toronto, ON, Alexander Barter (Shawna) of NL, Karen Steele (Kevin) of Cape Breton, NS; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Charlie moved to the Miramichi in 1977 for one season as an “enforcer” with the Northmen hockey team and never left. Over the years Charlie had many careers but found his calling as a police officer. He worked with the Miramichi Police Force where he eventually retired in 2014 as “Corporal Barter”.
