With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Carmel Mary Lee, who left this world on May 30th, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 6th, 1955, Carmel was a woman of resilience, strength, and an unspoken love built on presence, not praise.
She spent her life caring for others—not just as a devoted mother to her own children, but also in her work as an in-home care provider. Carmel had a heart for service. She looked after anyone who needed help—family, neighbors, clients—and she always made sure they were well fed. Feeding people was her way of loving them, and her door was always open.
Carmel is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Betty Ann McCluskey, Lynda Comfort, Ann MacCullam, Jack McDonald (Maria), Francine Easton (Gary), and Rick McDonald (Josee). She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Goodin McDonald and Wilbourne (Hilda) McDonald, her husband, Douglas Lee, her sister Joan Hachey (Earnest), and her brother Bud McDonald (Cindy).
She was deeply loved by her partner, Ambrose MacDonald, and will be forever missed by her daughters: Tracy Norris (Jason), Kim Harris (Kiley), and Pamela Warren (Craig).
Carmel also held a special place in her heart for Kathy Savard (Dwayne) and Tina Jardine (Donald), Ambrose’s daughters, whom she loved as her own.
She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Grayson, Landon, Jagger Britton, Desray, Daria, Sidney, and Reno, and her precious great-grandchild, Zayah. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
In her final month, Carmel received the most compassionate and respectful care from the team at Percy’s Place, and her family is forever grateful for their tenderness during such a difficult time.
Visitation will be held at Jardine Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, Miramichi, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 3-5 and 7-9pm.
A funeral service to celebrate Carmel’s life will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 11 AM from Tidal Church-Miramichi, 52 Nelson Street, Miramichi with Pastor Gary Churchhill, Pastors Anton and Louise Topilnyckyj officiating. All who knew her and shared in her journey are welcome to attend. Interment will be held in the St. Mark’s Cemetery, Chelmsford.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Percy’s Place, Miramichi in honor of Carmel’s memory and the incredible support they provided. Messages of condolence can be sent through the funeral home website: www.miramichifunerals.ca
