The death of Robert Anthony “Bobby” Sylliboy husband of Mary Lena (Joe) Sylliboy, of Esgenoôpetitj, NB, occurred on July 16, 2024, at the Miramichi Hospital at the age of 59. Born in Miramichi, NB, he is the son of Madeline Sylliboy. Bobby worked for MAWIW Council Inc. as a Youth Enhancement Cultural Worker and did various other jobs over the years with Esgenoôpetitj First Nation which included Traditional Knowledge Keeper, Police Officer and Tobacco Control. He was recently awarded the Order of NB and was very involved with Archery both in coaching and being a sports ambassador.

Besides his wife and mother, Bobby is survived by his children: Mark Nickerson (Candida); Adam Nickerson (Shelby Dedam); Robert Bazil Joe (Alissa Godin); Lorin Sylliboy (Emily Pirie); Ben Sylliboy and Tonya Dedam all of Esgenoôpetitj, NB; sister: Jillisa Nickerson (Jared) of Millbrook, NS; brothers: Stephen Sylliboy (Taylor Somerville); John Paul (Audrey Dedam) all of Esgenoôpetitj, NB; grandchildren: Damon, Charlotte and Thoren Nickerson as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and Tara Levi (Ken) aka boss lady and very special friend to Bobby.
