Aquila Joseph Despres of Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB, passed away at home on June 25, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born in Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB, on February 24, 1951, he was the son of the late Arcade and Dorina (Daigle) Despres. He was a welder for many years and attended Sainte-Anne’s Catholic Church.

Aquila is survived by his loving wife, Carmella (Daigle) Despres; six daughters: Carole Despres (Marc), Dorca Robichaud (Daniel), Gisele Despres (Elie), Murielle Martin (Michel), Gail Martin (Eric) and Suzie Despres all of Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB; eleven grandchildren: Daniel, Gabriel, Brandon, Placide, Noah, Renaud, Jessica, Lucas, Cody, Taylor and Nick; two step-grandchildren : Jeremie and Nicholas; two sisters: Aline Berube (Benoit) of Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB and Monique Despres of Aldouane, NB; two brothers: Roger Despres (Denise) of Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB and Ronald Despres (late Susan) of Miramichi, NB; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers: Arcade Jr. and Adrien.

Visitation will be held at Sister Blondine Martin Slumber Room, 5353 Route 117, Baie-Sainte-Anne on Thursday evening, July 3, 2025 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Friday, July 4, 2025 from 9 :00 am – 11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sainte-Anne's Catholic Church, 5353 Route 117, Baie-Sainte-Anne, on Friday, July 11:00 am with The Reverend Father Jean Belisle as Celebrant. Interment will be in Sainte-Anne’s Catholic Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Canadian Diabetes Association of New Brunswick or Miramichi SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
