Anita Clair Gallant of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at Mount St. Joseph on August 30, 2025, at the age of 67.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on March 8, 1958, she was the daughter of Regina (Duplessis) and the late Hubert Gallant.  She attended St. Michael’s Basilica.

Anita is survived by her mother, Regina Gallant of Miramichi, New Brunswick; four daughters: Amanda Melhuish of Ontario, Jennifer Melhuish of Miramichi, New Brunswick, Sarah Melhuish of Ontario and Shannon Valliear of Miramichi, New Brunswick; twelve grandchildren: Anita, Shianne, Shanice, Shawn-Paul, Brody, Tavia, Joey, Ryder, Harmony, Jesse, James and Devyn; motherly figure to: Brandie Valliear and Shane Desloges; sister, Jo-Anne Gallant of Montreal, Quebec and brother, Paul Gallant (Karyn) of Ontario.  She was predeceased by her father and son, John-Paul.

At Anita’s request there will be no visitation.  A Liturgy of the Word will be held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11 am with The Reverend Father David Rioux officiating.  Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi SPCA or Miramichi Foodbank would be appreciated by the family.
