Ella Rose “Joanne” Glynn of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and formerly of Napan, New Brunswick, passed away at Medley Hall, Shannex, on May 30, 2025, at the age of 85.

"Joanne" was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, on June 4th, 1939, and grew up on “The Portage” south of Grand Falls, New Brunswick.  She was one of eight children born to Thomas and Katheleen (nee O’Keefe) McCluskey.

She leaves a son, Mike (Joanne); grandchildren, Jessica (Cody), and Mitchell (Maryse); and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Mason.

She is also survived by sisters, Maureen LeBlanc (Late Arnold), and Sharon Eagan (Dave); and brother, Kevin McCluskey (Pauline); as well numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Simon; as well as sisters, Carmel Keoughan, Colleen Daley; and brothers, Terry and Shawn McCluskey.

Joanne graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1960, and worked at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Chatham for four years before taking a position as a Public Health Nurse, where she spent the next 25 years. She returned to Hotel Dieu Hospital as Acting Director of Nursing.  The final years of her career, and the most fulfilling, were spent with Family and Community Services assisting special needs children. As well as working, she managed over a number of years to complete a Bachelor of Nursing remotely and was proud to graduate from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in 1988.

She shared a fondness for raising and showing Belgian draft horses for many years, and liked nothing more than a short drive with the horses or a long road trip with Simon.

There will be no visitation by request.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, New Brunswick, on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Father John Fraser as Celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Miramichi, New Brunswick.
