Watters receives award for growing para sports

  • Mar 01, 2024

The Inclusive Active Schools Leadership Award is presented annually to a physical education specialist, Educational Assistant, or student who has helped our Para NB – Sport & Recreation program grow within the school system or raised awareness of inclusive physical education during the fiscal year. The recipient of our 2022-2023 award is Jim Watters from Anglophone North School District.

Jim goes above and beyond to deliver Para NB Sport & Recreation adaptive equipment and inclusive physical education to schools in his region. He organizes schedules amongst the schools and helps hundreds of children practice inclusion in the Anglophone North School District. In 2022-2023, Jim delivered equipment to 6 different schools in the Miramichi area, and has been an ambassador for our program, specifically the adapted sport and recreation Equipment Loan Service.

Shared experiences and information about the Para NB program have led to multiple new loans from people who had not heard of our services prior to their conversations with Jim. On top of promoting our services through word-of-mouth, Jim worked with Stonehouse Agency to create a beautiful success story that we have been able to share on our social media accounts and in our newsletter.

Jim, you have been so valuable to our Para NB program and have been instrumental in ensuring “Everyone Plays.”
