After a truck hit the Anderson Bridge and closed it for the forseeable future, the government announced yesterday that although the new Anderson Bridge is still an active construction site and the new bridghe is not open to traffic, emergency traffic will be permitted to cross the bridge as the detour can add about 40 minutes to the commute.

The government posted the following on social media:

Effective immediately, emergency vehicles are allowed to cross the new, under construction, Anderson Bridge in Miramichi in case of an emergency. During times when contractor is not on site there will be a security team in place to monitor traffic and allow emergency vehicles through.
