It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to our dear mother, Thelma Russell (Loggie) Sobey who passed away on Friday November 8, 2024, at the age of 97 at her residence at Losier Hall, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born in Ludlow, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruby (Russell) Loggie. Thelma was the wife of the late Eldon Sobey and was formerly of Maple Glen, NB. She retired from the Miramichi Hospital where she worked as a Manager of the Dietary Department and was a member of the United Church. 

Mom was a loving and caring person all her life and was the heart and soul of her family. She will be greatly missed by her children: Judith Foran (Sonny) of Wayerton, NB; Virginia “Ginny” Corkun (Colin) of Bedford, NS; Connie Foran (late Robert) of Miramichi, NB; Lois Walsh (Dougie)of Miramichi, NB; Calvin Sobey (Terry) of Miramichi, NB; Scott Sobey (Darleen) of Maple Glen, NB; Darren Sobey (Ann) of Miramichi, NB; chosen son: Joseph Gallant (Dora)of Miramichi, NB; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great- great grandchildren; her special sister Nita Somers (late Billy) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Thelma is predeceased by four sisters, four brothers, one grandchild, and one great grandchild.

At Thelma’s request a funeral service will be held from St. James & St. John United Church, Miramichi, NB on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 2 PM with Rev. Alice Szemok officiating. Interment will take place at the Maple Glen Cemetery later in the spring. ...
