The passing of Shirley Mona Joyce (Sturgeon) Hallihan, wife of the late Louis Hallihan, of Renous, NB, occurred on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Miramichi Hospital at the age of 87. Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Ada (Astle) Sturgeon.
Shirley was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, puzzles, reading, dancing, playing cards and bingo.
Shirley is survived by daughters; Lillian Manderville (Johnny) of Renous, NB, Pearle Price (Randy) of NS, Cindy Hallihan (Dale “Gigger”) of Renous, NB, Arlene Hallihan (Keith) of Renous, NB, June Somers (Steve) of Moncton, NB, Kim Hallihan (Lyndon) of Renous, NB; sons: Sterling (Colleen) of Blackville, NB, Wayne (Myra) of Ontario, Louis (Karen) of Renous, NB, Dana (Christine) of Renous, NB; sisters: Geraldine Donovan (late Reg) of Renous, NB, Thelma Buchanan (Charlie) of Fredericton, NB, Mary DeWolf (Peter) of Fredericton, NB; brother: Albert Sturgeon (Helen) of Doaktown, NB; 27 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; as well as her chosen family: Juanita Vautour and her son, Gary; and many nieces and nephews.
