Day 13 of the Oldfield Rd fire and it still remains out of control along with six other fires. Officials tell GO Miramich that in places fire has gone underground and will require close monitoring in the future.
Despite the rain yesterday burning restrictions are still strictly in effect across our region. On Saturday morning the Fire Department repsonded to a report of an outdoor fire in the area of the Water Street at the former location of the NB power plant. Polcie confirmt hey issued two tickets on Saturday for outdoor burning.
The ground may look damp, but our forests and woods remain extremely dry and at high risk for wildfires. We received 11.7 mm of rain -- this will help conditions briefly but with mostly sun in the week ahead that moisture will quickly evaporate.
