It is with broken hearts the family of Edward “Ned” Wilton Burns, husband of Hilda (Belleville) Burns, announce his passing on October 9, 2024, at the Miramichi Hospital after a brief illness. Ned was born in Blackville in 1939, to the late Wilton and Martha (Nolais) Burns.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hilda; daughter: Brenda Waye (Randy) of Fredericton, NB; son: John Burns (Shelley) of Miramichi, NB; grandsons: Andrew Waye (Katurah) of Durham Bridge, NB, Evan Burns of Miramichi, NB; granddaughter: Lindsey Burns of Charlottetown, PEI; two great-granddaughters: Lillian and Oaklie Waye; sisters: Marie Donovan (late Gerald) of Riverview, NB, Ann Kelly (late Gene) of Derby, NB; sister-in-law’s: Florence Chase (late Robert), Doreen Belleville (late John), both of Fredericton, NB; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.
He was an educator, having taught at schools in Sunny Corner, Blackville and Miramichi. He and mom worked as team designing and building houses and operating Swim Tyme Pools.
He never missed a hockey game, he loved watching his son and grandsons and offering his wise advice. He also never missed a school concert; he attended his last in June at his great-granddaughters spring concert. Dad and Mom loved to travel with their good friends Devota and Gary, spending many years wintering in Florida.
Dad had a full and wonderful life and we will miss him dearly.
