Dear Owen,
Canada's National History Society is pleased to advise that you have been selected as one of four national winners of the Heritage Fair program through the Young Citizens video competition. Congratulations!
We were impressed with your project on the Great Miramichi Fire of 1825 and the ways that you used evidence and historic sites to consider the impact of the fire on your local community. Thank you for sharing this story!
We are pleased to award you a $500 contribution towards an RESP in recognition of all your hard work.
We would also like to invite you to Winnipeg from November 18 to 21 to attend the Governor General's History Awards as a guest and to participate in related events. Canada's History Society will pay for the travel and three night's accommodations for you and a guardian. We will be in contact with further information and instructions to make travel arrangements.
You are now among only 140 Young Citizens winners since the program was introduced in 2012. We hope you stay connected to your local Heritage Fair program and continue to discover and share the stories of Canada's rich and fascinating history.
