It
is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Alma Elizabeth “Bette” (Allen) Sullivan, beloved wife of Edward Sullivan, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on October 19, 2024, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family at Percy’s Place.
Born on August 2, 1940, in Newcastle, NB, Bette was the daughter of the late Leslie and Ella (Bernard) Allen.
She met the love of her life at a young age, and from that moment on, they embarked on a journey that would span over seven decades, sharing a lifetime of joy, challenges, and an unbreakable bond. Bette and Ed were married on September 14, 1960, and spent 64 wonderful years together. They built a home filled with love and laughter, creating countless cherished memories. Bette devoted her life to her family, instilling love, strength, and kindness in all who knew her.
Her greatest pride was her children: Elaine Howlett (Dave), Allen (Catherine), Jamie (Paula), and Robin Paradis (Mike). Her grandchildren are Shanna (Travis), Brittany (Bobby), Brooke (Jake), Landyn (Raven), Brent (Kaitlyn), and Anna (Desmond): honourable son: William Hennessy. Great-grandchildren include Remy, Evy-Rey, Arlie, Olivia, and Londyn. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who never missed a birthday, sporting event, or opportunity to share wisdom and encouragement. Her family was the light of her life, and she, in turn, was the heart of theirs.
She was a woman of strong values and tireless dedication, both to her family and her community. Bette was a trailblazer for Ringette in New Brunswick, bringing the sport to our province and allowing young girls to play.
