Local team scores bronze at national pickleball event

Hudson and Porter bring home medals

Miramichi, NB – The Miramichi Pickleball Club is proud to announce that two of its local players, Josh Hudson and Noah Porter, brought home a bronze medal from the 2024 Myoflex Pickleball Canada National Championships. Competing in their first-ever national tournament, the duo earned a third-place finish in the 15-34 age category, 4.0 skill level doubles event.

Teams from all over Canada competed in the championship, with the gold medalists coming from Prince Edward Island (PEI) and the silver medalists hailing from British Columbia (BC). Hudson and Porter’s achievement is particularly noteworthy given that Miramichi Pickleball Club is a smaller community compared to the larger city clubs competing. Their dedication and hard work led them to a podium finish, a testament to the growing talent and passion for pickleball in Miramichi.

The Miramichi Pickleball Club is thrilled to see Josh and Noah represent Miramichi on the national stage. The club may be small, but our players have big hearts and a strong commitment. This bronze medal is a proud moment for us all in the club

The championships took place from August 20-24 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and featured over 800 players across more than 60 categories. The tournament brought together men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles players, as well as singles competitors, with ages ranging from 15 to 70-plus. The event utilized both indoor and outdoor courts at the Atlantic Tennis Centre, providing players with a unique opportunity to compete against some of the country’s best talent. A delegate of 6 members of the Miramichi Pickleball Club attended the competition as well. Miramichi Pickleball Club’s participation in the national tournament marks an important milestone for our growing club. The success of Hudson and Porter is just the beginning, and we look forward to continued growth and more proud moments like this in the future.
