Joan Margaret McKinnon

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Joan Margaret McKinnon, widow of Benedict McKinnon of Miramichi, who left us on October 19, 2024. Surrounded by her loving family at Percy’s Place, she departed this world knowing she was deeply cherished.

Joan was born on July 18, 1936, to the late Joseph and Edna (Sweeney) Roy of George Street in Newcastle. She was predeceased by her brother Ronald J. “Buddy” (Joan) Roy of Miramichi and is survived by her brother Kenneth (Judy) Roy of Miramichi, her sister Deanna Stewart (Donald) of Miramichi, and her youngest brother Arthur (Nancy) Roy of Hampton, NB.

Joan was a proud mother to her sons Sandy (Brenda) McKinnon of Upper Kingsclear, NB, and Paul McKinnon of Tsawwassen, BC, and her daughters Kathy McKinnon of Miramichi, Paula Richard (Robert) of Saint John, NB, and Betty Ann McVeigh of Oakville ON. Joan is lso survived by her beloved granddaughter Madeline of Oakville, ON, her grandson Pierre d’Entremont and great granddaughter Emily d’Entremont, both of Bedford NS.

By our mother's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. A burial service for family and friends will be held next summer on her birthday at St. Samuel’s Cemetery in Miramichi, NB.
