James Brune Ryan, 93, of Nordin, NB, husband of the late Gloria (Groat) Ryan left us on August 1, 2024. His passing occurred in the early morning hours at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, following a valiant fight to continue living after suffering a heart attack.
Born to Alexander Ryan and Bertha (Brune) Ryan on August 8, 1930, in former Nordin, NB, and later marrying his lovely Gloria June Ryan (Groat) on July 13, 1963. Together they created 59 years of memories.
James, a proud, dedicated 27 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, retired as a Sergeant after dedicating his tenure to New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and finally Ottawa.
Upon retiring from the Force, James along side his wife developed a successful, eloquent gift shop business, better known as “The Plate Rail” in the city of Ottawa, ON. Later, in 2012, they closed their treasured gift shop and returned to their roots on the Miramichi in New Brunswick.
James was the sole surviving member of his family – pre-deceased by his loving wife; his parents and his only beloved sister, Fabiola (Bodgie) Jardine; also his brothers: Alexander (Sonny) Ryan and Thaddeus (Toodles) Ryan.
James will be remembered as a pillar of strength, knowledge and wisdom; a lover of Feral cats; and a man who respected fine details in every aspect of his life.
James is survived by many nephews and nieces as well as Gloria's extended family. Sincere Thank-you to all family, neighbours and friends, past and present, who have helped, in any way, to make his life more comfortable and enjoyable.
