The death of Gordon Russell, husband of Judy (Hubbard) Russell, of Miramichi, NB, occurred on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his late residence at the age of 74. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late William and Jean (Wilt) Russell.
Gordie served 26 years in the Canadian Forces and as a Peacekeeper. He enlisted with the Canadian Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Corps in March 1973 and went on to do his Vehicle Technician Trades. During his military career he was posted three times as a Peacekeeper, Egypt 1976, Golan Heights 1985 and 1992. He was presented with an authorized replica of the Nobel Peace Prize for servicing on a Peacekeeping mission prior to 1988. Gordie retired from the military in 1998 as a Warrant Officer. After that he worked & retired from Dew Industry and most recently worked & retired from Miramichi Transit as a bus driver.
Besides his wife, Gordon is survived by sons: Jeffery Russell of Miramichi, NB, Steven Russell (Natalie) of Burton, NB; sisters: Betty Ann Medicraft (Larry) of NS, Sharon Barrieau (Claude) of Nelson, NB, Judy Losier (Stephen) of Nelson, NB; brother: Rickey (Wanda) of Point A Carr, NB; grandchildren: Denao and Luca both of Prince George, BC; sisters-in-law: Sharon Simpson & Marjorie Hubbard-Doiron(Gerald); brother-in-law: Roger Hubbard; as well as many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.
