Awards recognize teaching practices and excellence in education
Two outstanding teachers in Eel Ground have been awarded a Prime Minister’s Award (PMA) for Teaching Excellence!
Marie Levi from the Eel Ground Aboriginal Head Start Program has been awarded a Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Early Childhood Education, Certificate of Excellence. Recipients of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Early Childhood Education are honoured for their leadership, exemplary early childhood education practices, and their commitment to help build the foundation children need to make the best possible start in life.
The award recognizes Marie Levi for her design and implementation of pedagogical approaches that foster creativity and bring learning experiences into playtime, and for her integration of Indigenous culture and traditions into the learning experience. Mary Ginnish, a grades K to 8 Mi’gmag Language and Culture teacher at Natoaganeg School has been awarded a Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence Certificate of Achievement. Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching Excellence honour outstanding and innovative elementary and secondary school teachers in all disciplines for their remarkable educational achievements and for their commitment to preparing their students for a digital and innovation‑based economy.

Prime Minister’s Awards are offered at the national (Certificate of Excellence) and regional (Certificate of Achievement) levels.
