Miramichi fire crews were called to a grass fire that soon lead to the destruction of a barn in Barnaby on Sunday. Cains River fire sees waterbombers refilling in nearby river.
As fire crews were being called to fires in back yards on Peitre Street and Islandview Drive on Sunday, a grass fire in Barnaby quickly engulfed a barn on the Arthur Daley property. The fire spead to the other side of the river as well, reported some residents, who said there were some close calls and were ready to evacuate if needed.
Miramichi fire crews were aided in Barnaby by DNR, water bombers and crews from Rogersville while crews from Sunny Corner manned stations in town in case of a simultaneous emergencies.
