Truck rear-ends school bus, child sent to hospital

As a bus was delivering children home after school, a half-ton truck rear-ended the bus in the Chatham Head area.

Today at 3:30 pm, members of the MPF, Miramichi Fire and Paramedics responded to 376 Water St in response to a vehicle accident involving a School Bus and a pickup truck.

The pickup truck ran into the rear of the bus while the bus was unloading children.

Paramedics tended to the 7 occupants of the bus, transporting one child to the hospital for further observation.

Vehicle damage required the fire fighters to extract the male driver from his truck. Paramedics then transported him to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

The cause of this accident is currently under investigation. Traffic was slowed or stopped completely for 45 minutes while emergency workers tended to the injured parties and removed the vehicles from the scene.
