Parade of lights details

Police advice residents on parade router, start time, and best place to watch parade from your car

The following press release came from the Mirmaichi Police:

Members of the MPF, assisted by NBCC 2nd year, Police Foundation students, will be providing traffic and crowd control for the annual Parade of Lights.

This annual parade will take place on Friday, December 2nd, with a start time of 6:30pm.

The MPF wish to advise parade participants, motorists and residents of several City Streets that this year’s parade will once again start at JMH School and end at the Blanchard Clinic parking lot on Lobban Ave.

The parade will travel on Henderson Street to Duke Street, then to King Street, turning onto Water Street, through the Downtown core then further along Water Street to Lobban Ave where it will pass by the Mount St Joseph Seniors home before finishing at the top end of Lobban Ave.

MPF officers and students will be at the parade form up at JM Hill School.   Vehicles and persons who are taking part in the parade will be lined up in rows in the parking lot between JMH and Dr. Losier schools.  The parade Judge’s will view all entries before they leave this lot.  People dropping of parade participants are asked to drop their children off at the entrance to JMH School then exit via the school bus route.  All parade participants are asked to be there by 6pm.

Families who wish to watch the parade from their vehicles should park in parking lots along the parade route.  Street parking will be available in some areas but keep in mind that parade floats need lots of room to maneuver, especially at intersections.

The Downtown portion of Water Street at Henderson will be blocked off at 5pm.  No parking will be allowed on Water St after 6pm.  All vehicles on this street from Henderson to Duke St must be removed prior to the parade.

Officers and students will be on hand at the end of the parade to assist motorists who are picking up parade participants
