The death of Lawrence William Mahoney husband of Carmel (Dunn) Mahoney of Miramichi, NB occurred at his residence on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the age of 75. Born in Sunny Corner, NB, Lawrence was the son of the late Michael and Katherine (Katie) (Hogan) Mahoney.

Lawrence was a retired Forest Technician from UPM. Lawrence was involved in Newcastle Minor Hockey and Baseball for several years, past councillor for City of Miramichi and past president of NB Senior Baseball.

Besides his wife Carmel, Lawrence is survived by one daughter: Laurene Holder (Paul) of Quispamsis, NB; three sons: Larry (Tracy) of CI Road, NB, Jeff (Andrea) of Oromocto, NB and Jamie of Saint John, NB; five grandchildren: Jared and Alex Holder, and Jordan, Sienna and Alyssa Mahoney and several nieces and nephews.

Lawrence is predeceased by one sister, Corinne Estey and two brothers, Clayton and Gerald.

Lawrence is the last member of his immediate family.

Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11 AM from St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank with Father Dan Melanson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Roman Catholic cemetery.

In Lawrence’s memory a donation may be made to the NB Extra Mural Program, St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund and The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
