Comments : The death of Mrs. Rita Mary Walsh, wife of Weldon Walsh of Whitney, NB, occurred on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at her residence at the age of 79. Born in Nelson Miramichi, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Celina (Gallant) Richard. Rita was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Mary’s CWL, St. Thomas CWL and a member of the Columbian Ladies. Over the years Rita worked as a cook for Zeller’s and managed Jean’s Restaurant. She was also an avid bingo player.

Besides her husband, Weldon, Rita is survived by: three daughters: Rhoda Keating (Jack) of Whitney, NB; Brenda Matchett of Chatham, NB; Bertha Taylor (Johnny) of Sillikers, NB; three sons: Lawrence (Cathy) of Trout Brook, NB; Clayton (Alice Preston) of Whitney, NB; Arthur of Fredericton, NB; 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Rita is predeceased by: sons: Paul and Elmer; sisters: Dee Dee and Marie; brother: Gerald.

The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Newcastle on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 9 AM with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.

In Rita’s memory, donations may be made to the Diabetic Association or to a memorial of one’s choice.
