Miramichi student killed in crash

944223_612509965428410_999543625_nOne week short of graduation, an 18 year old Miramichi man was killed in a car accident on early hours of June 14th. Scott Bowes was the son of Brian and Valerie Bowes, and a student at James M. Hill Memorial High School. The van Bowes was travelling in left the McKinnon Road and struck a pole and some trees. The three other passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries, but unfortunately Bowes died at the scene.

According to his friends, Scott was an outgoing young man with many friends. He participated in swimming and track, and also had an interest in cars. He was to attend his high school prom with his friend Katelynn, and was planning on helping out with his father's business after graduation, perhaps following in his footsteps as an entrepreneur.

"He would do anything for anyone. He drove people everywhere, and joked a lot & smiled. I think that's what I'll miss most about him - his laugh & smile when we're hangin' out." ~ friend

The morning after the accident, the school contacted all the parents of JMH students to let them know that grief councillors would be at the school all day if anyone wished to speak to them. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bells Funeral Home.
