Miramichi Sports: T-Wolves Win Again, Host Ramblers Tonight

MIRAMICHI - They just keep on winning. The Miramichi Timberwolves picked up win 13 of the season last night, downing the Woodstock Slammers, on the road, 6-3.

It is the T-Wolves second win in a row and eighth win in their last nine games. The host the Amherst Ramblers tonight at the Miramichi Civic Centre.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Miramichi took an early lead in Friday Maritime Junior Hockey League game at the Carelton Civic Center. Billy Gaston netted a power play goal at 4:33 and Alex Scully scored at 18:49 to make it 2-0 after one period.

In the second frame Gaston struck again, and again on the power play, at 2:15 to run the score to 3-0 before Brett MacLean scored for Woodstock on the power play at 15:25. Gaston then completed the hat trick with another power play goal at 19:01.

The score was 4-1 after two, but Woodstock tried to make it interesting in the third. Robbie DeFulvils struck on the power play at 5:01 to cut the lead to 4-2. Then Ryan Purvis cut the lead to 4-3 at 5:59.

But former Slammer Justin O'Reilly grabbed a short handed goal at the 7:00 mark to make it a two goal lead and Tyler Brown put the final nail in Woodstock's casket at 12:00.

Jordan Kennedy stopped 32 shots to get the win while Colin Dzijacky stopped 30 shots and took the loss.

With the win the T-Wolves held on to second place in the Meek Division with 27 points, two up on the fourth place Dieppe Commandos. The Slammers remain in fourth place with 24 points.

The Ramblers come into the MCC tonight with a 12-7-2-0 record and 26 points. They sit third in the Eastlink Division.
