Miramichi Sports: T-Wolves Host Caps Tonight

MIRAMICHI - The Miramichi Timberwolves hit the ice tonight for a mid-December, mid-week tilt against the Summerside Western Capitals.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Miramichi Civic Centre.

Although it’s almost Christmas, this is the Caps first visit to Miramichi in the 2012-13 Maritime Junior Hockey League season. Tonight’s game is the second half of a home-and-home series that saw the first game played Sunday on the Island.

Summerside comes into the game not only first in the Meek Division, but first overall with 44 points, just one ahead of the Easlink Division leading Truro Bearcats.

Tonight’s game is just the third of the season between the two teams. The teams met Sept. 23 in Summerside where the Caps won 9-2. Sunday’s game ended in a 4-2 win for the Caps.

While Summerside is flying high, the scrappy T-Wolves have been surprising and impressing people around the league. After a 12 win, rebuild season last year, the T-Wolves are 15-10-1-0 this year. With 31 points they sit third in a log jammed Meek Division. Just two points separate second and fourth in the division.

It’s a busy week for the T-Wolves. After two weekend games and tonight’s game, they are back in action Friday night against the Tigers up the road in Campbellton. Then Saturday night they finish off the first half of the season by hosting the Tigers at 7:30 p.m.

At both tonight’s game and Saturday’s game the Merchandise table will be open for those looking to pick up some gifts for the hockey fan on their list. There are a number of t-shirts, hats and autographed player photos available.

Flex passes will also be on sale at the arena for $30, which is a $20 savings off the regular ticket price. Flex tickets are also available at Miramichi Optometry (470 King George Highway next to the Newcastle Pizza Delight) and the Chatham Jean Coutu (located in the Chatham Shopping Centre).
