Miramichi Sports: T-Wolve Face Commandos Tonight

BOUCTOUCHE - The Miramichi Timberwolves don't have a home game this weekend and that might be a good thing.

The T-Wolves hit the ice tonight in Bouctouche for neutral site game against the Dieppe Commandos. It is the second time the two teams have played at the newly opened Centre JK Irving. The met there during the pre-season as well.

The T-Wolves go into the game sitting third in the Maritime Junior Hockey League Meek Division with 10 points. The majority the teams five wins this season have come on the road, with just one win at home so far.

Miramichi is coming off a disappointing 11-7 loss last Saturday night to the Woodstock Slammers at the Miramichi Civic Centre. The lack of winning at home and the number of goals given up is frustrating Head Coach Rob MacDonald.

“We're going to have to work on the defensive side a little bit more and the goaltenders are going to have to start stopping some pucks,” he said.

Goal production hasn't been an issue, something MacDonald sees as a positive.

“At the end of the day it is frustrating,” he said. “We're scoring enough goals we're just not keeping them out of our net.”

Dieppe comes into the game fifth in the division and just one point behind the T-Wolves making it an important match-up.

“We look at that as a four point game,” MacDonald said.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. and the team is hoping some fans will make the trip to cheer on the club. The T-Wolves are in Amherst Tuesday to take on the Ramblers and then return home Saturday night to host the Yarmouth Mariners.
