Miramichi News: Miramichi Uganda Foundation "ON AIR" Fundraiser on LIfe Rodio

These are some of the accomplishments and goals of MUF:

  • 433 students presently enrolled in school.
  • School includes Kindergarten to Primary 7.
  • MUF currently supports 178 orphans/children-in-need including school uniforms.
  • Still many more orphans / children-in-need going to school & need support.
  • Current cost to support an orphan / child-in-need - $25/orphan/month.
  • 99% of money donated to MUF goes to children and projects.
  • MUF helps supplement 24 teacher’s and staff salaries in school.

Projects supported by MUF in Nakitokolo, Uganda

  • School – teachers, desks, books and supplies.
  • Start of a Vocational school – building of 3 classrooms, materials & 5 teachers.
  • Micro loans for buying and selling maize, beans and cereal produce.
  • Tree Project – planting of approx 3,500 eucalyptus trees on 10 hectares.
  • Pig farming
  • Chicken farming
  • Brick making - upwards to 160,000 per year.
  • Electricity supplied to school and village
  • Three pigs each and feed for 10 families
  • Two goats each and feed for 10 families
  • $100 of seeds per family for 10 families

Vocational school subjects being planned for 120 students:

  • Tailoring and knitting
  • Carpentry and joinery
  • Catering and cooking
  • Computer studies
  • Agricultural and animal husbandry farming
