In his role as chief of staff, Dr. MacMillan is responsible to advise the Regional Medical Advisory Committee on the quality of care and patient safety issues, as well as advise the Regional Chief of Staff on items involving health care access for the people of Miramichi and surrounding area.
(Horizon) May 13, 2019 – Dr. Stewart MacMillan has been named chief of staff for Miramichi and surrounding area.
Dr. MacMillan is a radiologist practicing at Horizon’s Miramichi Regional Hospital. He is a graduate of Dalhousie University, and has served in numerous leadership positions within Horizonand is currently the Credentials Committee Chairman. Provincially, he is member of the Department of Health Technology Review Committee, which assesses the impact of technology on medical services.
In his role as chief of staff, Dr. MacMillan is responsible to advise the Regional Medical Advisory Committee on the quality of care and patient safety issues, as well as advise the Regional Chief of Staff on items involving health care access for the people of Miramichi and surrounding area. Dr. MacMillan will also chair the Local Medical Advisory Committee for the Miramichi area.
“The role of chief of staff for the Miramichi area is an honour and privilege. Providing health care to the people of the Miramichi Area is a responsibility I take very seriously,” said Dr. MacMillan. “I am humbled to be tasked with the challenge of addressing the issues that impact the quality of medical care in our area.”
Dr. MacMillan assumed his new duties on May 1, replacing Dr. Michael Hayden, who held the position since 2015.
