Junior Ironmen Look to Take Over First Place

The Chatham Junior Ironmen look to avenge a 13-3 loss to the Fredericton junior Royals last thursday as they once again face the junior Royals to finish up a home and home series tonight at Ironmen park. (7:30pm game time). The Junior Ironmen who have established themselves in second place midway through the regular season with a 8-5 record look for top spots in league standings, as a win tonight would move them past the Moncton Cubs. The Ironmen have faced adversity at the plate this season with a team batting average below 300, however as of late the team has relied on their savvy veterans Sean Silliphant, Jeff McCarthy, Brett Buckley, and Aaron Noel along with outstanding pitching from all the Ironmen’s staff to break past the 500 winning percentage mark. Ironmen catcher and first baseman Jeff (slops) McCarthy said in a statement following thursdays loss to the Royals, that giving up three home runs in one game is a hard blow, we didn’t show up to play tonight, and we are looking forward to facing them at home.

Take it don’t break it Miramichi!
