January 3rd: Benefit to Rebuild Therapeutic Foster Home

Barn 1On December 9th Julia Trevors and Fred Siddall of Bartibog, NB lost their barn, horse, and four goats in a fire. They run a therapeutic foster home for children and youth and have been doing so for the past eight years. Their farm is an integral part of the care that they provide for children and youth.

Local businessman and owner of Savco Construction Ltd., Hyacinthe Savard, has graciously donated a six month old foal to the Travors and Siddal family so that they may continue to use a horse as part of the therapeutic intervention that they provide on the farm. Horses help to teach important life skills, such as perseverance and patience, as well as relationship building skills. The new foal will make a wonderful addition to the farm.

A benefit is being held for Trevors and Siddall on Saturday, January 3rd from 2pm to 8pm at the Father Morrissey Centre (St. Peters & Paul Church) 5 Bartibog Church Road, Bartibog Bridge, NB. There will be sleigh rides from 2pm-4pm, a silent auction, live music, and a bake sale. There will also be soup, sandwiches, and chili for sale. In addition to the benefit, donations are being collected at Sobeys in Newcastle, Miramichi Feeds in Chatham and Co-op in Newcastle. All support is greatly appreciated.
